SUMO Corporate Office Suites
Sumo Web Creatives
Newcastle Street, Leederville
A previous project partner referred us to Martin and Chris at the web design consultancy SUMO who were thriving as a business but as a result were rapidly outgrowing their current premises. A bigger tenancy nearby, formerly a rather bland commercial real estate office, was identified as the intended location for their future offices and we set about designing an environment befitting their company's creative character.
We met with their new landlord on site to both confirm the permitted tenancy modifications and introduce our proposal for removing all front-of-house ceilings to expose the A/C ducting above to generate a crisp industrial feel to the formal areas. Still in the front-of-house, an awkwardly shaped boardroom was retained but softened by the introduction of gently curving studwork erected within the perimeter to make SUMO’s formal client meeting room a creative zon. A bar fridge was concealed in the new stud-wall and the existing carpet removed to permit polishing of the concrete slab below. In the back-of-house the perimeter offices were maintained but all visible surfaces revisited in a fresh and vibrant palette.
Office flooring was replaced with a random-laid three tone carpet tile in differing greys and all new furniture was selected and arranged to best suit the operational needs of the growing business. Given the floor space fitted out was approximately 390 square metres SUMO received amazing value for their budget.
